I'm feeling on top of the world this week ! The results of the March competition with The Guild of Photographers were announced. I have been awarded another bronze bar to add to the 2, I won last month. But to make my day I discovered I had also been warded a SILVER bar too !
These awards mean a lot to me, as I do not shoot intentionally for competition with models, and I don’t have any problem with those who do. But I shoot for my clients, as I rarely have time to spare for model sessions. I’m always trying to perfect a little more, refine a little more & always willing to learn little more. So when I enter a contest I am willing to accept that it may be judged to be either :
Ungraded, Needing improvements and tweaks to achieve a higher score or,
Graded, That it is of fine saleable quality of a high standard for a client.
At either of these first levels, means there is room for improvement, as a national competition image the judges have spotted something I might have overlooked or could have perfected more. I can then approach for further help to develop my skills and understanding.
Bronze Bar, which is only awarded to images of a strong standard in this national competition (something to be proud of)!
Silver Bar, which is only awarded to images that are very well crafted at a national competition level (a fantastic achievement)!”
Then top of the tree are Gold bars and Platinum bars !
As I blogged before I recently qualified with the guild as a ‘Craftsman' they describe this as is someone who has evidenced their capability to deliver a professional service that is well beyond the norm showing amongst the highest levels of technical skill, creativity and presentation. And someone who is fully insured.
to follow on for this good news …
To make my day even better I was given this amazing review on my face book page, now this has made my day ! The most rewarding part of my job is working for my clients & their babies ! Proud new parents can be a bit bewildered so soon after the arrival of their new little one, and to be trusted with a new little person so cherished and precious is always a complete honour. Did I mention how much I adore my job :-) !
